F*ck You, Pay Me

Mike Monteiro of {Mule Design Studio} (and his lawyer) discuss how to run a design studio as a business.
Anyone interested in working in design or using the services of a designer should really watch this. He is hilarious, very very clear, and gives great advice!

Flash Mob Enforces Recycling!

Awhile ago I was walking through the library and as a student tossed something in the recycling bin, the guy manning the front counter said "Thanks for recycling." The student was surprised and kind of stuttered a "no problem". I, too, was caught off guard by the acknowledement. It was amazing the effect this simple recognition of a good thing had on me. It made me smile and want to recycle in the future...in the hopes that I'd get a pat-on-the-back as well!

I just came across this video of somtehing similar on a larger scale. A FlashMob crew in Quebec uses the power of positive re-enforcement to get people to recycle!

Pie Charts Never Lie

Watch out, world. There's trouble at hand. :)

Oh, those Swedes

I am finding it so hard to decide what to post about; I'm coming across too many intriguing, well-done things! The moment I decide on one topic, another something awesome comes along. This isn't the worst problem to have, though, eh? The fact that we can so easily come across things like the following says a lot about our culture - networking, social media, instant access...

That said, I will be posting some things in quick succession...can you keep up?

First, there's this: a trailer for a Swedish short film. Hilarious. I can't wait to see the full thing. Let it be inspiration for you to change your perspective and, a technique used by designers to find creative solutions, redefine a problem... And while laughing, let it help get you through your busy weeks!

A Life Full of Important Fun

My previous post reminded me of the following two videos which continue the idea that, really, we need to have some fun. I credit my younger sister for their discovery.

1) I've got to agree with this guy. A life full of important fun? Exactly how I am aiming to describe mine (and, thankfully, could so far).

2) Aside from the obvious comment on the ridiculousness of some of our government's actions (and I know you're all agreeing because really, what was that!?), this SNL digital short has some meat to it. I would LOVE to see a band like Arcade Fire play a rockin' concert at a UN meeting. Those uptight, "professional" folk need to have a dance party. Why is this such a "silly" proposition? What would happen? I'd argue that a slew of creative solutions to the problems our world is facing right now would be generated...
